Store Openings

Looking for a job that challenges and delights you? Keep a lookout for one of our new locations.

Is a new Publix being built in your area? With that expansion comes additional employment opportunities. If you've heard about a new Publix store coming to your area or have seen one under construction, you may wonder how you can apply to work there.

Watch for Job Fairs

Publix regularly holds job fairs throughout our existing operating areas and in our new markets. Job fairs are scheduled to collect applications from people interested in working at a new or existing store or geographic area. We also hold these events to interview candidates, and sometimes hire them on the spot. Be sure to review the latest information on upcoming job fairs and events.

If you wonder if a new store is coming to your area or an area where you'll soon be living, go to our new store openings list.

Apply for Non-Management Positions

We often post signs in the window of the new store under construction that will announce that it is time to apply online.

Managers of the new store – as well as managers in existing Publix stores in the area – will be able to see your application. For new stores, managers first look for candidates to fill skilled positions –Baker, Cake Decorator, Meat Cutter, and Deli Clerk. That can occur 4 – 5 weeks before the new store opens. A week or so later, they look for candidates for the rest of the non-management positions. They contact the candidates they want to interview.

We may also schedule job fairs and hiring events to allow individuals to apply for employment. Details of these events are announced on the Job Fairs & Events page and on our Publix Careers Facebook page and our @publixjobs Twitter account.

Apply for Management Positions

Publix fills most management positions in a new store with managers who transfer from other Publix stores. That way we know new store teams will learn Publix's best practices in customer service, product quality, and superlative execution. For more information, visit store management opportunities for details.
